Abstrak

Artikel ini bertujuan menjawab tiga persoalan utama. Pertama, apa makna frasa Perjanjian Baru “mati dalam daging dan hidup dalam Roh”. Kedua, bagaimana gagasan tersebut dirumuskan dalam kerangka teologis persatuan dengan Kristus. Ketiga, apa implikasi eksistensial dan etisnya bagi kehidupan pribadi maupun komunal orang percaya. Penelitian ini berangkat dari pengamatan bahwa frasa tersebut sering dipahami secara sempit, hanya sebagai tuntutan moral atau pengalaman spiritual individual, tanpa ditempatkan dalam kerangka solidaritas Adam–Kristus serta karya Roh Kudus yang menyeluruh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berbasis studi pustaka. Metode yang digunakan meliputi analisis leksikal dan pembacaan intertekstual terhadap Roma 6:1–14, Galatia 2:20, Efesus 4:22–24, dan Kolose 3:1–4, yang kemudian dirumuskan dalam suatu sintesis teologis sistematis. Kajian terhadap istilah sarx dan pneuma menunjukkan bahwa “daging” merujuk pada kondisi manusia dalam solidaritas Adam yang berada di bawah kuasa dosa, sedangkan “Roh” menunjuk pada kehidupan baru yang bersifat eskatologis di dalam Kristus. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa frasa tersebut mengandung pola partisipasi dalam kematian dan kebangkitan Kristus yang mencakup dimensi ontologis, soteriologis, dan komunal. Transformasi dalam Kristus dipahami sebagai perpindahan dari satu solidaritas ke solidaritas yang lain, yang membentuk identitas baru serta menghasilkan praktik etis yang nyata dalam kehidupan gereja dan masyarakat.
